The former Bablake School pupil was in action at the National Watersport Centre in Nottingham for the tenth annual qualifiers.

Over 900 athletes took part in firstly a 750km swim in the impressive Regatta Lake before taking to the bike for a 20km ride around the lake’s perimeter and finishing with a 5km run.

Whitmore, who works at Warwick University at the Tudor Clinic, was one of 240 female competitors and completed three events in 1:02.47, which was enough to winder her age group and secure herself the spot as second fastest female.

Her latest achievement comes just weeks after completing the Bupa London 10,000 event in St James’s Park where she finished 14th fastest overall in a time of 34.58.
