FOOTBALL - A46 closure could affect Coventry City fans travelling to Ipswich game this weekend

COVENTRY City supporters travelling to this weekend’s match against Ipswich Town could be affected by a road closure on the A46.

The A46 will be closed between Festival Island (Coventry) and Thickthorn Island (Kenilworth).

The closure will be in place from 8pm on Friday, February 7 to 6am on Monday, Feburary 10.

And the road will be closed again from 8pm on Friday, February 14 to 6am on Monday, Feburary 17.

The closure is in place as part of works for HS2.

A box structure is being constructed to take the new HS2 line under the A46 near Kenilworth.

A longer closure to the section of road is expected later in the spring to push the structure into place.

A fully signposted diversion will be in place over this weekend, though fans are advised that there will be some disruption to journey times during the closure.

The local traffic diversion is shown below.
