FOOTBALL - AFC Coventry Rangers hit AFC Solihull for six in resounding win

CONNELL Farrell scored a second-half hat-trick as AFC Coventry Rangers hammered AFC Solihull 6-0 to remain top of the Midland Football League Division Three table.

Farrell’s treble added to strikes from Curtis Cutts and Joseph Gardener before Fola Fagbemi completed the scoring late on at the Coventry Technical Ground.

Victory for Rangers means they are now six points clear at the top of the table and exacts revenge on Solihull who are the only team to have beaten Coventry in the league this season.

And Farrell had a hand in the home side’s opening goal when his run and cross set up Cutts to nod home at the back post after 25 minutes.

Coventry soon had their second goal when Gardener finished off a fine team move six minutes before half-time.

And Rangers remained dominant after the break as Farrell scored the first of his three goals on 62 minutes before doubling his tally six minutes later.

Farrell completed his hat-trick with another clinical finish in the 81st minute before substitute Fagbemi rounded off a stunning win by scoring Coventry’s sixth goal on 89 minutes.

Manager Kev Kingham said: “The lads were really up for the game as we had been beaten by AFC Solihull earlier in the season, we dominated the game and the score line shows that.

“As a team is was great to see how we took charge of the game, we look forward to our next game away at continental star on Saturday.”

Coventry are next in action away at Continental Star on Saturday, December 11 with kick-off at 2pm at the Holford Drive Community Sports Hub.
