BEDWORTH United retained their Step Four status and relegated rivals Rugby Town after holding off a late fightback to draw 2-2 in their penultimate game of the season.
Goals from Liam Murphy and Leo Stone all but sealed Bedworth’s safety with just under 20 minutes left to play at The Oval.
However, a late brace from Trey Charles drew Rugby level while Bedworth blocked a shot at the death to secure their place at Step Four next season.
Bedworth now sit four points above rivals Rugby in the Northern Premier League Midlands table with just one match left to play.
The home side broke the deadlock on 31 minutes when Murphy headed in Callum Morris’s corner at the near post.
And Bedworth doubled their lead on 71 minutes as Stone volleyed home from eight-yards out after the ball fell kindly into his path.
Rugby halved the deficit on 82 minutes when Charles squeezed a shot under Liam O’Brien from a tight angle.
And Charles scored from the penalty spot five minutes into injury time after the referee penalised Bedworth for handball in the box.
Valley had one last chance to save their season only for Caine Elliott to see his effort blocked as Bedworth secured survival in their final home game of the campaign.
Bedworth finish the season against Grantham Town on Saturday, April 26 with kick-off at 3pm at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium.
