FOOTBALL - Bolo Zenden believes Frank Lampard 'knows what it takes' to achieve promotion with Coventry City

BOLO Zenden believes Frank Lampard ‘knows what it takes’ to achieve promotion with Coventry City this season.

Zenden spent two seasons playing alongside Lampard at Chelsea following spells with PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona.

And the former Netherlands international believes Lampard’s previous spell in charge as Derby County gives the Sky Blues boss knowledge on how to achieve promotion from the Championship.

Speaking to BetVictor, Zenden said: “Frank Lampard has been in that situation previously and got really close to that promotion.

“So he probably knows what it takes, maybe even more now than when he did the first time around with Derby.

“It’s good to see him back in management and it’s good to see him doing so well. It’s very nice to be on top.

“You also know when you’re on top, everybody’s chasing you and it’s still a long run. It’s still a long way.

“It’s an exciting competition. There are so many games, anybody can win.

“Like I said, if they then lose one game, all of a sudden the other teams think there is something to gain.

“All of a sudden people think, okay, well, it’s possible. Let’s have a go. And can you deal with injuries? It’s interesting. I also hope that it’s not a one-horse race.

“It’s the same in the Premier League. If someone just runs away it isn’t as fun.

“It’s always more exciting than when one team is running away with it.”
