CARL Rushworth insists Coventry City’s ‘togetherness’ is as high as ever despite the club’s indifferent form of late.
The goalkeeper has impressed for the Sky Blues this season and currently sits joint top of the division’s clean sheets chart.
However, with Coventry faltering in their quest for promotion in recent weeks, Rushworth insists the Sky Blues remain as together as they were earlier in the campaign.
Rushworth said: “Nothing changes in terms of my mentality towards each game.
“We know how difficult this league is. The final 16 games are like cup finals.
“Everybody is on the same page, everybody knows what we want to achieve together as a group.
“We’ve been in a difficult spell but the togetherness is just as high as it was when we were on a streak of winning games.
“We just need to get back to playing freely and get a bit of confidence back.”
Despite recording nine shutouts in the Championship this season, Rushworth has not kept a clean sheet in his last seven matches.
And Rushworth would love to remain with the Sky Blues should Coventry achieve promotion at the end of the season.
Rushworth added: “We’re top of the league, we’ve had nine clean sheets, we’re going through a tough spell.
“We’ve put in ourselves in a really good position to say that we’re in our tough spell and we’re still top and really high up with the clean sheets as well.
“To get that form back will help us massively and to know we only have 16 games lest, if we go on another run we can finish the season really strong.
“Hopefully we can make a bit of history. I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League.
“If the option was there [to play in the Premier League for Coventry] then 100 per cent. I love everything about the club.”
Coventry host Oxford United on Saturday, February 7 with kick-off at 3.01pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
