FOOTBALL - Coventry City 'agree deal' to sell youngster Justin Obikwu to Championship rivals after loan recall

COVENTRY City have ‘agreed a deal’ to sell youngster Justin Obikwu to Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers.

According to Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, QPR have agreed a deal with the Sky Blues to sign Obikwu.

Coventry recalled the 21-year-old from his loan spell at Lincoln City where he scored three goals in 21 appearances.

He helped the Imps rise to second in the League One table.

Given the sudden nature of Coventry’s decision to recall Obikwu, it is likely the young forward is making a permanent switch to the R’s.

Obikwu is yet to make a senior appearance for the Sky Blues but has enjoyed three loan spells away from the club.

He joined Grimsby Town on loan in consecutive seasons, scoring 10 goals in 35 appearances in League Two for the Mariners.

The forward made the step up to League One this season with Lincoln but managed just four starts and 13 sub appearances.

He has also won four caps for Trinidad and Tobago at senior international level.
