COVENTRY City boss Frank Lampard and forward Brandon Thomas-Asante have been nominated for the Championship’s monthly awards for October.

The Sky Blues topped the league table throughout October as City picked up 15 points from a possible 18 available.

This included a dominant away wins against Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday to start the month.

City then beat Blackburn Rovers at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

And victories against Portsmouth and Watford followed as the Sky Blues racked up six successive league wins.

Coventry finished the month with a 3-2 defeat at Wrexham – the club’s only defeat in the Championship this season.

Coventry scored 18 goals across their October fixtures as Lampard’s side turned on the style.

During City’s impressive run of form, Thomas-Asante chipped in with six goals and an assist.

He netted twice in Coventry’s victory at Hillsborough and also found the net against Blackburn.

Thomas-Asante scored for the third game in a row against Pompey as he netted a brace to secure the points for Lampard’s side.

And he struck again as the Sky Blues beat Watford at home with the forward currently top of the Championship goalscoring charts on 10 goals level with Derby County’s Carlton Morris.

The other nominees for the manager award are Hull City’s Sergej Jakirovic, Millwall’s Alex Neil and Bristol City’s Gerhard Struber.

And the other nominees for the player award are Millwall’s Femi Azeez, Charlton Athletic’s Sonny Carey and Derby’s Jacob Widell Zetterstrom.

The judging panel for the manager award comprises former Barnsley boss Danny Wilson, Sky Sports EFL expert Don Goodman and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

Goodman and Davies are also on the judging panel for the player award along with EFL chief executive Trevor Birch.
