FOOTBALL - Coventry City boss Frank Lampard nominated for Championship manager of the month award

COVENTRY City boss Frank Lampard is on the shortlist for the Championship manager of the month award for April.

Lampard guided the Sky Blues to three wins and three draws last month as Coventry clinched promotion to the Premier League as champions.

Coventry began the month with a 3-2 win against Derby County before playing out goalless draws against Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday.

Lampard guided the Sky Blues to promotion following a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers as the City boss helped end the club’s 25-year exile from the top flight.

And Coventry duly sealed the Championship title with an emphatic 5-1 home win against Portsmouth at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Sky Blues lifted the title following a 3-1 victory against Wrexham in the club’s penultimate game of the season.

The other nominees for the manager award are Blackburn Rovers’ Michael O’Neill, Portsmouth’s John Mousinho and Southampton’s Tonda Eckert.

The judging panel for the award comprises former Barnsley boss Danny Wilson, Sky Sports EFL expert Don Goodman and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

Lampard won the Championship manager of the month award for October earlier this season.

He also won the Championship’s manager of the season award at the EFL Awards.
