MARK Robins has confirmed young forward Fabio Tavares will miss the rest of the season through injury.

Tavares sustained an impact injury during extra time of Coventry City’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United at Wembley.

However, despite Robins expecting Tavares to return during pre-season the 23-year-old does not require surgery.

Robins said: “Fabio will be out for a considerable amount of time. He will hopefully be back in at some point during pre-season.

“There’s nothing you can do about it, it’s a significant impact injury and it’s really disappointing for him and for us to.

“He went for a surgical opinion and there was good news around that, because he doesn’t need surgery and that gives him a bit more comfort knowing he hasn’t got to go through that.

“He was devastated to have had to come off at Wembley because he was causing them all sorts of problems, but it’s part of the game unfortunately and hopefully he’s had his share of them.”
