MARK Robins is hoping for a miracle after losing yet another midfielder to injury in Coventry City’s win against Blackburn Rovers in midweek.
Sky Blues captain Liam Kelly suffered a hamstring injury midway through the first half adding to City’s growing injury list.
Kelly’s replacement Yasin Ayari inadvertently set up Coventry’s winner when his shot came back off the crossbar and Haji Wright headed in to seal a 1-0 victory with five minutes left to play.
However, with Ben Sheaf, Kasey Palmer and Callum O’Hare already ruled out, and Jamie Allen only recently returning from injury, Robins admitted City are short of options in the middle of the pitch.
Robins said: “He’s torn his hamstring.
“I’m hopeful there’s going to be some miracle and I can get players back [from injury], we need them, I’m going to have to start playing defenders and strikers in midfield.
“We’re going to have to play players who are fatigued, there’s just no other option at this moment in time.
“I didn’t really want to play him [Jamie Allen] for 90 minutes, he’s played 100 minutes, it’s difficult because he’s going to have to go again on Saturday.”
Coventry are next in action at home to Norwich City on Saturday, October 7 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
