COVENTRY City cruised to a 3-0 win against 10-man Birmingham City to move up to second in the Championship table.
The Sky Blues took the lead courtesy of Brandon Thomas-Asante’s goal before Jack Robinson saw red for the visitors shortly before half time.
An own goal from Bright Osayi-Samuel doubled Coventry’s lead early in the second period before Victor Torp completed the scoring late on.
The result means Coventry move up to second in the Championship table.
Frank Lampard’s side broke the deadlock on 16 minutes when Liam Kitching saw his effort from a long throw parried into the path of Thomas-Asante who fired into the roof of the net from close range.
The home side almost doubled their lead five minutes before half time when Haji Wright took the ball past Blues goalkeeper Ryan Allsop only to shoot wide from a tight angle.
Birmingham defender Robinson then received a second yellow card on 42 minutes when he pulled back Wright as the striker threatened to latch onto a ball in-behind.
And Coventry made the most of the man advantage four minutes into the second period when Josh Eccles kept Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s cross alive at the back post and Osayi-Samuel inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
The Sky Blues sealed the points on 78 minutes when Ellis Simms brought down Carl Rushworth’s long kick and saw his effort saved only for Torp to turn home the loose ball from six-yards out.
