COVENTRY City defender Bobby Thomas is ‘in talks’ to sign for Sheffield United.
The centre-back could command a fee of up to £8million, according to Sky Sports.
Sky also report that some Premier League clubs hold an interest in the defender.
BBC Sport report that the Blades have tabled a bid in the region of £5m for the centre-back.
United are seeking defensive reinforcements following a 4-1 defeat to Bristol City on the opening day of the Championship season.
Thomas would likely be a replacement for Anel Ahmedhodzic who left the Blades to join Dutch giants Feyenoord.
The 24-year-old joined the Sky Blues from Burnley in July 2023.
He has since established himself at the heart of City’s defence.
Thomas has made 95 appearances and scored seven goals for the Sky Blues.
He has started in both of Coventry’s games this season, recording two clean sheets.
The Sky Blues sold centre-back Luis Binks to Danish side Brondby earlier in the transfer window.
Coventry have also been linked with a move for Hull City defender Charlie Hughes.
