COVENTRY City have donated more than £30,000 to two local charities – Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice and Sky Blues in the Community.

The club donated £22,000 to Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice and £10,000 to Sky Blues in the Community.

Coventry launched a special limited edition fourth kit for the club’s FA Cup tie against Ipswich Town back in February.

The club donated a portion of the profits from the kit sales to both charities.

Coventry owner and executive chairman, Doug King, presented the two charities with a cheque prior to the club’s final home game of the season against Middlesbrough.

King said: “Our football club sits at the heart of the community and it is important that we support the foundation of our club in their great endeavors.

“It is a pleasure also to support Zoe’s Place on this occasion with transformative funds.

“These donations have been enabled by all of our amazing, dedicated fans who snapped up our gorgeous shirt in great numbers.

“Once again it is the fans that make the difference.”

Head of fundraising at Zoe’s Place, Lisa Harrison-Byrne added: “There aren’t enough words to express what a donation like this means to Zoe’s Place.

“From everyone here and all the families we support please accept a heartfelt thank you for your unwavering kindness.”

Head of community at Sky Blues in the Community, Dave Busst said: “SBitC were completely overwhelmed when we heard the amount we would be receiving from the Coventry City fourth shirt sales.

“We would like to thank CCFC for the generous donation and we will make sure it goes towards SBitC programmes that we deliver across Coventry and Warwickshire for the benefit of the community.”

The all-navy shirt sold out within a few hours of going on sale prior to the Ipswich game.

Zoe’s Place Trust is the only baby hospice in the UK.

They provide palliative, respite and end of life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Sky Blues in the Community is the charitable arm of Coventry City.

The charity works with young people up to adults in the later stages of life, providing a diverse range of programmes and schemes.
