MARK Robins feels his side concede too many goals after Coventry City slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against promotion-chasing Ipswich Town.
The Sky Blues briefly drew level through Haji Wright’s goal in the second half which came either side of strikes from Kieffer Moore and Cameron Burgess at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
City have now failed to win any of their last five league matches and Robins admits his side must tighten up at the back.
Robins said: “We concede too many goals, that’s been the story of our season, we give ourselves a mountain to climb, we need to address that because you can’t win things if you concede too many goals.
“We’ve played some good football this season, we’ve had to adjust to things with the huge turnaround in players and the loss of two Coventry greats.
“Reflection will come in a week or two, we’ve got a bit of a way to go yet.
“Congratulations to them [Ipswich], they are almost there, the prize is there for them, they can see it, they’ve been fantastic, they’ve had the team together for a long time.”
Ipswich broke the deadlock after just eight minutes when Moore finished through the legs of Bradley Collins after Omari Hutchinson played Wes Burns in behind the Coventry defence.
The Sky Blues equalised on 64 minutes as Wright beat the offside trap and fired a shot under the body of Vaclav Hladky from Kasey Palmer’s through ball.
However, the Tractor Boys reclaimed the lead five minutes later when Burgess’s shot somehow found its way into the net from a tight angle inside the box.
Coventry finish the season at home to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, May 4 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the CBS Arena.
