COVENTRY City ended their four-game losing run in the league with a drab goalless draw against Stoke City.

The Sky Blues had the better chances throughout but failed to make their dominance count at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

And the result means Coventry sit 20th in the Championship table, five points clear of the relegation zone.

The Sky Blues had the first chance of the game when the ball dropped kindly into the path of Jamie Allen who saw his tame effort easily saved by Stoke goalkeeper Jack Bonham.

And City went close again soon after as Jake Bidwell floated a cross to the back post which Ellis Simms headed against the outside of the post.

The home side continued to dominate the chances as Simms chested the ball into the path of Matty Godden who fired a volley towards goal only for Bonham to push the ball behind for a corner.

And Godden had another sight of goal soon after, finding space on the edge of the penalty area only to blaze a shot a few yards over the crossbar from Ben Sheaf’s pass.

City remained on top in the early stages of the second half as Haji Wright headed Godden’s cross from the right onto the top of the net.

The Sky Blues wasted a golden chance to take the lead soon after as Jamie Allen miscued his volley into the ground from Wright’s cross from the left.

Stoke’s best chance came late on as Andre Vidigal’s acrobatic volley from five-yards out went wide after good work from Enda Stevens down the left.

Coventry are next in action away at Millwall on Saturday, November 25 with kick-off at 3pm at the Den.
