COVENTRY City have entered the race to sign Netherlands under-21 international defender Tyrese Asante.
Asante plays for Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv with the Sky Blues one of a number of clubs monitoring the centre-back, according to Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old spent time in Feyenoord’s academy before beginning his career with HV and CV Quick in the Dutch fourth tier.
He joined second tier club ADO Den Haag ahead of the 2021/22 season and went on to make 97 appearances for the Dutch side across three seasons, scoring three goals.
Asante completed a move to Israeli champions Maccabi Tel-Aviv ahead of the current campaign.
He has made 28 appearances for Maccabi this season and has featured in UEFA Champions League qualifiers and the UEFA Europa League league phase for Tel Aviv.
Sky Sports report that Aberdeen, Hull City and Cardiff City were all interested in signing the defender in January.
However, Tel Aviv had no interest in selling the defender mid-season.
Maccabi currently sit second in the Israeli Premier League standings, one point behind leaders Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
