COVENTRY City exited the FA Cup at the fourth round stage following a heavy 4-1 home defeat against Premier League strugglers Ipswich Town.
The Sky Blues conceded a penalty inside the first minute but drew level soon after courtesy of Joel Latibeaudiere’s header.
However, a brace from Jack Clarke put the Tractor Boys in command before Jaden Philiogene struck after the break at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
City wore a limited edition fourth strip with the club raising money for charities Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice and Sky Blues in the Community.
And congestion outside the ground saw kick-off delayed by 10 minutes.
Any latecomers may have missed the game’s first goal as Liam Kitching pushed Sammie Szmodics to the ground in the box after just 22 seconds and George Hirst scored from the spot.
However, the Sky Blues equalised on eight minutes when Latibeaudiere glanced Jack Rudoni’s corner from the right into the bottom left corner at the near post.
Ipswich reclaimed the lead on 28 minutes as Clarke drove into the box and curled a shot into the bottom right corner from 15-yards out.
And Clarke doubled his tally for the game on 37 minutes after Coventry lost possession deep inside their own half and the winger finished coolly from six-yards out.
The Tractor Boys completed the scoring on 63 minutes when Philogene squeezed a shot past Dovin at his near post from Clarke’s square ball.
Coventry are next in action against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday, February 11 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
