COVENTRY City ended their pre-season campaign with a 2-2 draw against Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli.
Goals from Brandon Thomas-Asante and Ellis Simms twice put the Sky Blues ahead only for St. Pauli to twice draw level at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Prior to the kick-off, both clubs laid a wreath at the War Memorial Park in act of remembrance.
Coventry made a strong start as Victor Torp curled a shot narrowly wide of the post from just outside the penalty area.
And the Sky Blues took the lead on 18 minutes when Thomas-Asante prodded home Matt Grimes’ cross to put City ahead.
Thomas-Asante then hit the post as Coventry came within inches of doubling City’s advantage.
However, St. Pauli equalised just before half time when Andreas Hountondji pounced on a mistake by Carl Rushworth and finished into an empty net.
Second-half substitutes Raphael Borges Rodrigues and Simms then made an immediate impact to put City back in front.
Just moments after entering the fray, Rodrigues delivered a cross from the right which Simms glanced into the bottom left corner on 75 minutes.
Sky Blues head coach Frank Lampard also handed 12 minutes from the bench to Haji Wright who marked his return from an Achilles injury picked up on international duty.
However, St. Pauli drew level again six minutes later as Danel Sinani finished past Rushworth when one-on-one.
Coventry begin the Championship season with a home game against Hull City on Saturday, August 9 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the CBS Arena.
