GOALKEEPER Carl Rushworth has broken a Coventry City club-record which stood for 91 years.
Rushworth went 613 minutes without conceding a goal for the Sky Blues – the longest run without conceding a goal of any goalkeeper in the club’s history.
His run eclipsed the previous record of 608 minutes set by Horace Pearson in 1934.
The 24-year-old registered five consecutive clean sheets before Coventry’s clash with Portsmouth in midweek.
However, he finally conceded deep into injury time at Fratton Park as Makenzie Kirk’s 96th-minute goal ended Rushworth’s run.
Rushworth kept clean sheets against Leicester City, Birmingham City, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers during the streak.
He joined City on loan from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer.
Coventry boss Frank Lampard said: “It’s always a collective, more than ever in the modern game, you defend from the front.
“But sometimes you have to acknowledge the inidividual achievement of that.
“It’s an amazing achievement to be at the club for such a short period and to do that.
“His confidence has grown since he’s been here. I always knew when we brought him in he is a very talented goalkeeper.
“I’m really pleased for him for that record. He deserves it personally.”
