COVENTRY City remain ‘keen’ on signing Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka despite facing competition from La Liga side Valencia.
According to Sky Sports News’ Lyall Thomas, Valencia have approached Brentford regarding a deal for Onyeka.
However, both Coventry and Birmingham City remain ‘keen’ on a deal for the 28-year-old Nigeria international.
The report adds no deal with any club has progressed due to Onyeka’s involvement at AFCON with his national side.
Onyeka helped the Super Eagles reach the semi-finals where they lost to hosts Morocco on penalties.
He will remain at AFCON until January 17 with Nigeria to play Egypt in a third-place play-off.
Onyeka has made just six substitute appearances for the Bees in the Premier League this season.
He spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga.
The central midfielder has made 75 appearances for Brentford in the Premier League across five seasons.
He started his career in Denmark at Midtjylland where he scored 14 goals in 95 appearances.
