COVENTRY City legend Dion Dublin admits he would love to manage the club if he ever ventured into the dugout – but not until Frank Lampard departs the Sky Blues.
Sky Blues legend Dublin won the Premier League golden boot during his time at Coventry and scored 63 goals in 151 appearances for the club.
However, Dublin expressed his satisfaction at the job current Sky Blues boss Lampard has done at Coventry with City currently top of the Championship table.
Speaking to OLBG, Dublin said: “If I could go into management, who would I like to manage? One of my own teams or anybody at all? Anyone? Oh, wow.
“Obviously you want to go to the top of the tree and do a Barcelona or a Man United, but realistically, a Championship club, a Coventry or someone like that.
“I’m not after your job, Frank. I don’t want your job, Frank. You’re doing a great thing.
“But these are all just hypothetical questions, Frank, leave me alone. So Coventry would be good.”
Dublin also reflected on his time with the Sky Blues and picked out a couple of players he felt did not receive the credit they deserved.
Dublin added: “Possibly a player called Noel Whelan [was the most underrated]. I was with him at Coventry City.
“I think he would hold his hand up and say, listen Whelan, underachieved, underachieved. He could do everything, left foot, right foot, could run, could head. He was aggressive. He played 10, he could play nine.
“So Noel Whelan, Peter Ndlovu as well at Coventry as well. There were a few players at Coventry who were underrated.
“So I’d probably go with Noel Whelan or Peter Ndlovu.”
