FOOTBALL - Coventry City open contract talks with Haji Wright according to reports

COVENTRY City have reportedly opened contract talks with club-record signing Haji Wright.

Exclusively revealed by SportsBoom, Coventry will enter talks with Wright over extending his stay at the Coventry Building Society Arena in the near future.

Wright has scored five goals in seven league games for the Sky Blues this season with boss Frank Lampard often playing him as a lone striker.

The 27-year-old’s current deal expires in 2027 and SportsBoom claim Coventry do not want the striker to enter the final year of his deal without a new contract agreed.

Wright joined Coventry in a club-record £7.7million deal from Turkish side Antalyaspor back in August 2023.

The USA international has scored 37 goals in 89 appearances for the Sky Blues and helped the club reach the Championship play-off semi-finals last season.

He also scored against both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United as Coventry reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 2023/24.
