COVENTRY City have four players in the Sky Sports Championship team of the season so far following the club’s stunning start to the season.
Sky Sports’ EFL editor Simeon Gholam and pundit David Prutton have picked their Championship team of the season so far.
The team featured four players from the Sky Blues with Stoke City, Hull City, Charlton Athletic, Watford, Leicester City and Derby County all represented.
Sky Blues defenders Milan van Ewijk and Bobby Thomas feature in the back four with Matt Grimes in midfielder and Brandon Thomas-Asante in attack.
Dutch full-back van Ewijk has registered five assists in the Championship this season – more than any other player in his position.
He features alongside centre-back Thomas who has won 87 duels so far this season while also chipping in with two goals and two assists from the back.
Sky Blues captain Grimes features in a two-man midfield and has completed 907 passes this campaign – more than any other midfielder in the Championship.
And the league’s joint top-scorer Thomas-Asante starts in the number 10 role. He has 13 goal involvements in the Championship this season – more than any other player.
The Ghana international also recently won the division’s October player of the month award.
And Gholam and Prutton selected Sky Blues boss Frank Lampard to manage the side with Coventry currently five points clear at the top of the table.
The rest of the squad sees Stoke’s Viktor Johansson in goal with Charlton’s Lloyd Jones at centre-back and former Sky Blues loanee Ryan Giles at left-back.
Watford’s Imran Louza, who scored a penalty against Coventry earlier this season, partners Grimes in midfield.
Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu and Stoke’ Sorba Thomas start out wide while Derby County’s Carlton Morris leads the line.
