COVENTRY City came from behind to win 3-1 against Sheffield United and move four points clear at the top of the Championship table.
The Sky Blues fell behind to Sam McCallum’s goal on 25 minutes as the Blades took a narrow lead into the break at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
However, goals from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Bobby Thomas turned the game on its head after the interval before Brandon Thomas-Asante completed the scoring in injury time.
Coventry lead the Championship table by four points as City stretched their unbeaten run at home to 10 matches with a fourth straight victory at the CBS Arena.
A pre-match show from Coventry indie band The Enemy amplified the atmosphere before kick-off with a performance of the club’s adopted anthem ‘We’ll Live and Die in These Towns’.
The Sky Blues created the game’s first chance as Blades goalkeeper Michael Cooper fumbled Josh Eccles’ powerful effort from inside the box behind for a corner.
And the home side went close again soon after as Cooper parried Torp’s venomous free-kick from 25-yards out before the Blades frantically turned the loose ball behind.
However, the Blades broke the deadlock against the run of play on 25 minutes when former Coventry man McCallum turned home Ben Mee’s flick-on from a corner from insisde the six-yard box.
The Sky Blues looked to respond to the setback just past the half-hour mark as Josh Dasilva fired a shot across the face of goal and behind after he combined with Eccles down the left.
United spurned a glorious chance to double their lead shortly before half time as Bobby Thomas made a crucial block to deflect Sydie Peck’s shot into the gloves of Carl Rushworth.
City then wasted a promising chance of their own as Brandon Thomas-Asante delivered a cross into the box from the left which Haji Wright could only head straight at Cooper from close range.
However, Coventry equalised four minutes after half time when Sakamoto reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and drilled a low effort past substitite goalkeeper Adam Davies from 12-yards out.
And City turned the game on its head on the hour mark as Thomas bundled home Torp’s corner from the left from inside the six-yard box after Davies missed his punch.
The Sky Blues wrapped up the points with virtually the final touch of the game as Jamie Allen released Wright who squared the ball to Thomas-Asante who rolled the ball into an empty net.
