COVENTRY City have revealed their new home shirt for the 2023/24 season
The new home shirt sees the Sky Blues return to stripes for the first time since the 2016/17 campaign.
And the strip incorporates the different elements of the club badge on the front of the shirt.
Coventry’s chief executive Dave Boddy said: “We are delighted to unveil our new home kit for the 2023/24 season.
“Celebrating the key elements of our famous and much-loved crest, the kit also sees a return to stripes for the first time in a number of years for us.
“As the club reaches its 140th anniversary this August, we hope that we have created with Hummel a kit that celebrates our history with a dynamic and modern design and be another kit that will be popular with Sky Blues supporters.”
“We look forward to revealing more of our kits for the 23/24 campaign soon.”
The elephant, displayed on the crest and also on the city’s coat of arms, adorns the shirt.
This is alongside the mythical Phoenix bird, a symbol of Coventry’s rise from the ashes of fire and rebuilding after World War II.
The eagle is also visible, a symbol from Coventry’s distant past, the emblem of Lady Godiva’s husband, Leofric, Earl of Mercia.
Inside the neck, August’s 140th anniversary of the club’s formation is marked while the traditional civic crest of the city is shown which the club’s players wore on their shirts at the start of the last century.
King of Shaves is the club’s front of shirt sponsor for the 2023/24 campaign.
The club sold 2,400 shirts within the first four hours of going on sale to become the fasting selling shirt in the club’s history.
By comparison, last season’s home shirt sold around 2,000 shirts in the first two days of sale.
