COVENTRY City saw their five-game winning run come to an end following a 2-0 defeat away at relegation-threatened Derby County.
Goals either side of half time from Matt Clarke and Marcus Harness condemned the Sky Blues to defeat at Pride Park.
And the result means Coventry sit sixth in the Championship table, two points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off spot.
Frank Lampard’s side made a bright start as Milan van Ewijk delivered a dangerous low ball into the box from the right which Derby scrambled to safety.
However, Derby broke the deadlock on 23 minutes when Clarke headed in Harness’s free-kick from the right from eight-yards out.
City went in search of an equaliser as Haji Wright played in Ellis Simms who saw his shot saved by Jacob Widell Zetterstrom.
And Zetterstrom then pushed Victor Torp’s free-kick from 25-yards out to safety as the Sky Blues went into the break behind.
Derby doubled their lead just three minutes after half time when Harness volleyed the ball through the legs of Oliver Dovin from six-yards out.
However, Coventry felt the ball had gone out of play in the build-up to the goal.
The Sky Blues looked to reduced the deficit as Josh Eccles collected a loose ball before curling a shot inches past the post from distance.
And Zetterstrom came to Derby’s rescue again late on as the keeper made a smart save low down to his right to keep out Bobby Thomas’s header.
Coventry are next in action against Sunderland on Saturday, March 15 with kick-off at 3pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
