COVENTRY City have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of centre back Bobby Thomas from Burnley.
The 22-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Sky Blues after spending last season on loan at Bristol Rovers and Barnsley with the latter side beaten in the League One play-off final.
Thomas is the club’s sixth summer signing and will wear the number four shirt for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.
Thomas said: “I’m buzzing and I’m really happy to be here, I can’t wait to get started now.
“I was excited when I heard of the interest. I didn’t know what to think at first because there’s always talk and some things don’t happen, but now I’m here I can’t wait to get started.
“I’ve come here to play games and progress personally and with the team, that’s the most important thing for me.
“I’m looking forward to that first game of the season, but I’m looking forward to all of them to be honest, I can’t wait to get the season started.”
The defender made one senior appearance for Burnley in the 2020/21 season before joining League Two side Barrow on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
He then started the 2022/23 season on loan at Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers where he scored three goals in 19 games.
Thomas made the switch to fellow League One side Barnsley in January, scoring three goals in 25 appearances, as the young centre back played a key role in the Tykes’ run to the play-off final.
