COVENTRY City have signed Japan international Tatsuhiro Sakamoto from Belgian side KV Oostende for an undisclosed fee.
Sakamoto has signed a three-year deal with the Sky Blues as the 26-year-old midfielder becomes the club’s third summer signing.
The midfielder has won two caps for Japan and leaves Oostende after scoring 10 goals in 81 appearances.
Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Tatsuhiro to Coventry City.
“Having impressed in his native country, he continued to do so in Belgium and we look forward to welcoming him to English football.
“He is a versatile and creative attacking midfielder, with good technical ability and pace, and we look forward to working with him.”
Sakamoto impressed in his native Japan with Montedio Yamagata in the J2 League, scoring seven goals in 44 games, before then joining Cerezo Osaka.
With Osaka, Sakamoto scored eight goals in 76 matches before making the switch to Oostende, initially on loan, in January 2022 with the move later made permanent.
