COVENTRY City lost at home for the first time this season following a 1-0 defeat against Norwich City.
The game’s only goal came on 49 minutes as Joel Latibeaudiere inadvertently deflected Borja Sainz’s half-volley into the net at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Defeat for the Sky Blues means Coventry have failed to beat Norwich in the last 11 meetings – a run which dates back to February 2009.
Mark Robins’ side spurned a good chance to take the lead when Jake Bidwell played Ellis Simms in behind the Norwich defence only for the striker to poke the ball wide.
The Canaries went close at the other end as experienced centre-back Shane Duffy sent a powerful header inches over the bar from a corner.
City responded with a chance of their own as Haji Wright broke down the left from just inside the Norwich half before driving into the box and forcing Angus Gunn into a save with his feet.
The home side continued to search for the opening goal as Tatsuhiro Sakamoto cut in from the right and fired a low effort into the side netting from the edge of the penalty area.
However, Norwich broke the deadlock four minutes after the break when Sainz’s deflected half-volley found the net after the Sky Blues failed to deal with Jack Stacey’s dangerous cross from the right.
Coventry struggled to create a clear opeing all afternoon but almost drew level when substitute Ephron Mason-Clark saw his low effort turned behind by the boot of Gunn.
