COVENTRY City saw their four-game unbeaten run come to an end after slipping to a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Bristol City.

Rob Dickie’s goal on the stroke of half time settled the game after Ben Sheaf hit the crossbar for the Sky Blues early in the contest at Ashton Gate.

And the result means Coventry sit 16th in the Championship table, four points outside of the play-off places.

The Sky Blues went close to an opener when Sheaf let fly from 30-yards out only for the midfielder’s shot to hit the crossbar with Max O’Leary at full stretch.

And the visitors hit the crossbar a second time soon after as Matty Godden’s shot clipped the top of the bar after good work from strike partner Ellis Simms.

Mark Robins’ side spurned another chance to take the lead when Simms teed up Sheaf on the edge of the penalty area only for the midfielder to curl the ball inches past the post.

And the Sky Blues were made to pay for those missed chances in the final minute of the first half when Dickie headed home Taylor Gardner-Hickman’s free-kick despite the best efforts of Ben Wilson.

Chances were at a premium in the second half as substitute Haji Wright fired into the side netting from a tight angle inside the penalty area.

And the Sky Blues were denied a late equaliser as Robins goalscorer Dickie threw himself in the way of Yasin Ayari’s shot.

Coventry travel to Rotherham United on Wednesday, October 25 with kick-off at 7.45pm at New York Stadium.
