FOOTBALL - Coventry City snap up former Cambridge United youngsters

COVENTRY City have snapped up youngsters Kai Yearn and Greg Sandiford following their departures from Cambridge United.

Yearn and Sandiford will both link up with Coventry’s development side next season.

Midfielder Yearn made his Cambridge debut as a 16-year-old and scored in a 4-1 win against Oxford United in the EFL Trophy, becoming the club’s youngest scorer in the process.

He made seven appearances for Cambridge before departing the club at end of the 2023/24 season.

The 19-year-old has also spent time on loan at Chelmsford City and King’s Lynn Town respectively.

Versatile defender Sandiford signed his first professional contract with Cambridge last season.

The 19-year-old has predominately featured at right-back throughout his career.

He enjoyed a loan spell at Biggleswade Town earlier in his career and was an unused substitute for Cambridge’s first team during the 2023/24 campaign.
