COVENTRY City surrendered a half-time lead to lose 2-1 against in-form Norwich City as the Sky Blues saw their lead at the top of the table cut to three points.
The away side led through Romain Esse’s clinical finish only for Anis Ben Slimane to draw the hosts level moments after the break at Carrow Road.
And after Ephron Mason-Clark headed against the crossbar, a costly mistake from Liam Kitching allowed Ali Ahmed to complete the turnaround with the Sky Blues unable to find a leveller.
The result means Coventry sit three points clear of Middlesbrough at the top of the Championship table having started the gameweek six points ahead.
Norwich created the game’s first chance as Ben Slimane drove from just inside his own half to the edge of the penalty area only to shoot tamely at Carl Rushworth from 20-yards out.
The Canaries came forward again soon after as Kellen Fisher burst down the right and fired a dangerous ball across the six-yard box with nobody in yellow able to turn the cross home.
Norwich hit the post just before the half-hour mark when Kenny McLean flicked the ball around the corner for Jose Cordoba who curled a low effort against the base of the post
However, Coventry took the lead against the run of play on 38 minutes as Esse lashed a low effort past Vladan Kovacevic at the goalkeeper’s near post after Victor Torp’s initial effort deflected into the scorer’s path.
And the Sky Blues spurned a chance to double their lead moments later when Esse flicked the ball into the path of Haji Wright who saw his shot pushed to safety by Kovacevic.
However, Norwich equalised less than a minute into the second period as Ben Slimane received Ahmed’s pass and coolly took the ball past Rushworth and finished past two defenders on the line.
Coventry almost reclaimed the lead when Wright ran onto Torp’s pass and saw his shot half saved by Kovacevic as Fisher scrambled the loose ball to safety with Mason-Clark lurking at the back post.
And the Sky Blues went close again soon after as Mason-Clark headed against the crossbar from close range after Cordoba could only flick Torp’s free-kick from the right towards the back post.
However, Norwich completed the turnaround on 67 minutes when the home side pounced on Kitching’s loose touch and Papa Amadou Diallo cut the ball back to Ahmed who found the net via the aid of a deflection.
