COVENTRY City under-21s suffered a seventh defeat in eight matches following a 4-1 defeat against Millwall.
The young Sky Blues found themselves three goals behind at half time after Sheldon Kendall put the visitors ahead at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
And a brace from Jaydon Thomas-Smith put the Lions into a three-goal lead at the break which left Coventry with a mountain to climb.
Millwall extended their lead after the break when Rafiq Lamptey found the net.
However, the young Sky Blues scored a consolation late on through Khavarni Lincoln but the strike proved too little too late.
The result means Coventry sit 16th in the Professional Development League table with two matches left to play this season.
Coventry under-21s are next in action against Crewe Alexandra on Friday, April 17 with kick-off at 1pm at the Alan Higgs Centre.
