CALLUM Perry’s late penalty earned Coventry City under-21s a come-from-behind 3-2 victory against Bournemouth.
Perry scored the winner from the spot with seven minutes left to play after strikes from Tristen Batanwi and Joshua Toluwaloju drew City level at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
A brace from Jonny Day put the Cherries into a two-goal lead only for Batanwi and Toluwaloju to score two quickfire goals before the break.
And Perry scored a late winner to earn the young Sky Blues a third win from five league matches this season.
The result means Coventry sit third in the Professional Development League North standings.
Bournemouth broke the deadlock on 25 minutes when Day poked home after Sky Blues stopper Oscar Richards kept out Charlie Stevens’ powerful header.
And Day doubled his tally for the game on 38 minutes as Day again tapped home from close range after Richards saved an initial header from a corner.
However, the Sky Blues responded less than a minute later when Batanwi beat Bournemouth goalkeeper Callan McKenna from a tight angle.
And a defensive mix-up allowed Coventry to equalise four minutes before the break as Toluwaloju profited to send the teams in level at the interval.
The Sky Blues remained on top after the break at Batanwi twice went close to completing the turnaround.
And City won a penalty on 83 minutes as Perry kept his cool to find the net from 12-yards out and complete a fine comeback.
Coventry under-21s are next in action against Crewe Alexandra on Monday, September 22 with kick-off at 1pm at Alexandra Park.
