COVENTRY City under-21s saw their losing run stretch to five matches following a heavy 6-0 defeat away at Watford.
A brace from Jonathan Lawson put the Hornets into a two-goal lead at the break at Vicarage Road.
And further goals from Max Smith, Josh Mullins, Amar Sanghrajka and Josh Keyes condemned the young Sky Blues to a six-goal defeat.
The result means Coventry sit seventh in the Professional Development League North standings.
Watford broke the deadlock on 21 minutes when Lawson tapped home from close range after the same player’s header had come back off the woodwork.
The Sky Blues almost drew level only for Alfie Smith to fail to hit the target with a point-blank header.
And the Hornets took full advantage of the missed chance to double their lead on 40 minutes as Lawson scored his second of the game.
Coventry goalkeeper Oscar Richards denied Watford’s M Smith after the break only for the latter to extend the home side’s lead on 52 minutes from a tight angle.
The Hornets struck again on the hour mark as Mullins headed home Amin Nabizada’s corner.
Watford added a fifth goal on 74 minutes when Sanghrajka’s effort squirmed through the gloves of Richards.
And substitute Keyes completed the scoring four minutes later to cap a miserable afternoon for the visitors.
Coventry under-21s are next in action against Fleetwood Town on Friday, April 3 with kick-off at 1pm at Poolfoot Farm.
