COVENTRY City under-21s surrendered a two-goal half time lead against 10-men in a 3-2 defeat against Hull City.
The young Sky Blues took command of the game courtesy of Joshua Stidder’s brace at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
And Hull had Ramell Carter sent off before the interval as Coventry took a two-goal lead into the break.
However, the Tigers staged a remarkable comeback as quickfire goals from Sammy Henia-Kamau and Hugh Parker drew the visitors level.
And a late goal from England under-21 international Darko Gyabi completed the turnaround to leave Coventry stunned.
The result means Coventry sit fourth in the Professional Development League North standings.
The home side took the lead on 14 minutes when Stidder finished from close range after George Shepherd flicked Conrad Ambursley’s cross into the scorer’s path.
And the young Sky Blues doubled their advantage three minutes before the break as Stidder’s deflected strike found the top corner.
Hull then had Carter sent off after he picked up a second yellow card in first-half injury time.
However, the Tigers halved the deficit on 53 minutes when Henia-Kamau finished Cody Drameh’s cross.
And Hull equalised five minutes later as Parker turned home another Drameh cross with the latter having made more than 100 appearances in the Championship.
The visitors stole the points on 80 minutes when another first team player, Gyabi, strode into the box and coolly found the net.
Coventry’s under-21s are next in action against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, October 14 with kick-off at 1pm at Canalside Training Centre.
