COVENTRY City under-21s will take on some of the best teams in the world in the Soccer7sSeries in Singapore this summer.

The Singapore Soccer7sSeries takes place in July at the Jalan Besar Stadium with men’s, women’s and masters teams in action.

The tournament takes place from July 25 to 27 in a seven-a-side format.

Matches will take place on a full-size pitch with four 15-minute games to take place every hour.

Clubs from across Europe, South America and Asia will take part in the tournament.

Soccer7sSeries chief executive, Dom Lane said: “Singapore has truly become a global sporting destination, so we’re delighted to bring the Soccer7sSeries to the country.

“Fans will be treated to faster football. Our Soccer7sSeries format involves 15-minute games played on a full-size pitch, meaning we have four games played every hour.

“We’re really excited to show fans in Singapore what the Soccer7sSeries is all about.

“We have some exciting names including ex-Premier League winners and Champions League competitors and already lots of great teams confirmed from Europe, South America and Asia-Pacific with even more to announce.”

Teams already confirmed in the tournament include Borussia Dortmund, Corinthians, Geylang International, Hashtag United, Shanghai Shenhua, Selangor, Persib Bandung, Queens Park Rangers and Vasco da Gama.

Former Premier League winners Wes Morgan and Robert Huth and former Fulham and West Ham player Luis Boa Morte will feature in the competition.

Coventry will play in the men’s open competition with three trophies on the offer – the cup, the shield and the plate.

Some 16 teams will contest the men’s open with 10 teams to face-off in both the women’s and masters (over 35s) competitions.
