COVENTRY City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has received a three-match ban from the Football Association (FA).
The FA have charged Thomas-Asante with violent conduct following Coventry’s defeat against Norwich City.
Thomas-Asante appeared to swing his arm back in the direction of Norwich player Pelle Mattsson in the first half of the clash at Carrow Road.
He received no punishment during the match owing to the fact the referee missed the incident at the time.
An FA statement reads: “Brandon Thomas-Asante has been suspended for three matches following Coventry City’s EFL Championship match against Norwich City on Monday 26 January.
“The player’s behaviour around the 34th minute wasn’t seen by the match officials at the time, but it was caught on video, and The FA alleged that it constitutes violent conduct.
“Brandon Thomas-Asante subsequently admitted the charge against him and accepted the standard penalty for violent conduct.”
Thomas-Asante will miss Coventry’s home games against Oxford United and Middlesbrough and the trip to former club West Bromwich Albion.
He has scored 10 goals in 20 league appearances for Coventry this season.
