FOOTBALL - Coventry City's Ephron Mason-Clark named in provisional Jamaica squad for World Cup play-off

COVENTRY City forward Ephron Mason-Clark has been included in a provisional squad for Jamaica’s upcoming World Cup qualifying play-off.

Mason-Clark previously represented England C on two occasions when playing in the National League for Barnet.

However, it appears Mason-Clark has now switched his international allegiance to the Reggae Boyz.

Mason-Clark appears on a 52-player list named by Jamaica’s interim coach Rudolph Speid.

The 26-year-old has scored six goals and provided three assists in 23 games for Coventry this season.

Speaking to the Jamaica Observer, Speid said: “The 52 names are not concrete – they can change but for transparency, we want to give the media an idea of who we’re looking at.

“We have these players, we’re observing them, we’re watching their performances week in, week out.

“And they’re being analysed every single day by the technical staff.”

Speid replaced former England boss Steve McClaren as Jamaica boss after the Reggae Boyz failed to achieve automatic qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Jamaica play New Caledonia in an inter-confederation play-off in March.

The winner of that tie will then take on Democratic Republic of Congo for a place at the World Cup finals.
