COVENTRY City’s weekend opponents Watford have released a statement regarding the future of their manager Tom Cleverley.
The Hornets have dismissed claims the club are set to sack their current boss as ‘pure speculation’.
Watford travel to the Coventry Building Society Arena to take on the Sky Blues this weekend.
Watford posted on X: “Watford FC confirms Tom will be in charge for the match at Coventry City and that the speculation over his position is just that – pure speculation.”
Reports claimed Watford had held talks with former Villarreal boss Jose Rojo Martin about replacing Cleverley.
However, the club have now confirmed Cleverley will be in the dugout for the game against Coventry this weekend.
Former Manchester United midfielder Cleverley has the Hornets eighth in the Championship table just one point outside of the play-off places.
The Sky Blues host Watford on Saturday, January 25 with kick-off at 3pm at the CBS Arena.
