COVENTRY City loanees Callum Doyle and Brooke Norton-Cuffy have been named in England’s under-20 World Cup squad which takes place later this month.

The competition is due to begin in Argentina on May 20 with the pair to join up with the England squad once their involvement in the play-offs has concluded.

Doyle, on loan from Manchester City, has become an integral part of Coventry’s defence this season and has kept an impressive 17 clean sheets in 41 league appearances.

The 19-year-old centre-back won promotion from League One on loan at Sunderland last season and has a chance to repeat the feat in the Championship with the Sky Blues this campaign.

Norton-Cuffy joined the Sky Blues on loan from Arsenal in January, having started the campaign with City’s Championship rivals Rotherham United.

The 19-year-old wing-back has made 21 appearances for the Sky Blues and started the club’s final two games of the season to help City clinch a play-off place.

Both players were part of England’s successful UEFA European Under-19 Championship campaign last year with Doyle on target in the final against Israel.

The duo are joined in Ian Foster’s 21-man squad by a host of young stars including Bristol City’s Alex Scott and Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka.

England will be based in Buenos Aires and have been drawn in Group E alongside Tunisia, Uruguay and Iraq with all of their games to take place at La Plata Stadium.

The Young Lions play Tunisia on May 22, Uruguay on May 25 and Iraq on May 28 with the top two teams in the group to qualify for the round of 16.
