COVENTRY Sphinx secured their first away win of the season with a 2-0 victory at Hinckley LRFC.
First-half goals from Kyle Carey and Damian Kelly at Leicester Road Stadium ended Sphinx’s five-game winless run.
The result means Coventry sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Sphinx won a penalty just past the half-hour mark when a Hinckley player blocked Jack Downes’ goalbound shot with his arm outstretched.
And Carey stepped up to smash the resulting penalty into the net on 33 minutes and put Coventry ahead.
Sphinx doubled their lead two minutes before the break as Kelly exchanged passes with Jordan Hayward before coolly finding the bottom left corner to score his first goal for the club.
Coventry are next in action away at Tamworth in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday, December 3 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Lamb Ground.
