COVENTRY Sphinx stunned leaders Corby Town before playing out an entertaining draw with rivals Bedworth United.
Sphinx came from behind to claim a 3-1 victory against Corby at Steel Park as Iddriss Fuseini, Kyle Carey and Jordan Hayward all found the net.
Coventry then drew 2-2 against Bedworth at the Cameron Slater Arena as Hayward again found the net with Matty Shipman also on target.
The result means Sphinx sit second in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.
Sphinx fell behind against Corby after just three minutes as Connor Tomlinson put the league leaders ahead.
However, Fuseini drew the visitors level four minutes later when he finished at the second attempt after Corby goalkeeper Jake Laban failed to claim Carey’s low ball in from the left.
And Sphinx completed the turnaround on the half-hour mark as Carey curled a sublime free-kick into the left corner of the net from 25-yards out.
The visitors sealed the points on 56 minutes when Hayward coolly curled a shot past Laban from Carey’s reverse pass.
However, Sphinx followed up the win with a draw against local rivals Bedworth.
Bedworth took the lead on 23 minutes only for Sphinx to draw level later in the first half.
The hosts equalised on 35 minutes as Shipman went through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and kept his cool to find the net.
Sphinx completed the turnaround on 54 minutes as Hayward fired a first time effort across goal and into the bottom right corner from the left-hand side of the penalty area.
However, Bedworth drew level on late on while the visitors also missed a penalty as the game ended all square.
Coventry are next in action against Stamford in the FA Cup on Saturday, August 30 with kick-off at 3pm at the Zeeco Stadium.
