COVENTRY Sphinx suffered their first league defeat of the season after losing 3-1 away at Sutton Coldfield Town.
Sphinx levelled the game on the stroke of half time courtesy of Kyle Carey’s goal only for the home side to strike twice after the break at Coles Lane.
The result means Sphinx sit fifth in the Northern Premier League Midlands table after two matches.
Sutton took the lead on 13 minutes when Ryan Edmunds lashed an unstoppable effort into the top left corner of the goal from 25-yards out.
However, the visitors equalised in the final minute of the first half as Carey scored his third goal of the season.
The home side reclaimed the leas in style on 58 minutes when Charlie Dowd receieved the ball from a short corner, cut in from the left and a curled another superb strike into the top right corner from 20-yards out.
And Sutton sealed the points on 69 minutes as Owen Parry scored from the penalty spot despite Keelan Fallows diving the right way.
Coventry are next in action against at home to Darlaston Town on Tuesday, August 20 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Sphinx Industrial Supplies Arena.
