COVENTRY Sphinx suffered their heaviest defeat of the season after losing 5-0 against unbeaten league leaders Quorn.
Sphinx found themselves two goals down inside five minutes on a difficult afternoon for the home side at the Sphinx Industrial Supplies Arena.
The result means Coventry sit 18th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Quorn broke the deadlock after just three minutes when Cain Noble slid a shot into the bottom left corner following a cross from the left.
And the visitors doubled their lead less than a minute later as Luca Alonzi curled a shot into the right corner of the goal after pouncing on a slip from a Sphinx defender.
Quorn all but sealed the points on 38 minutes when Alonzi fired a shot into the bottom left corner across Sphinx goalkeeper Charlie Woods.
The visitors extended their lead on 54 minutes as Zak Goodson burst into the box and coolly rolled a shot into the bottom left corner.
And Goodson completed the scoring five minutes into injury time after collecting a loose ball before driving into the penalty area and finishing past Woods at his near post.
Coventry are next in action against Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday, December 21 with kick-off at 3pm at the Dovecote Stadium.
