COVENTRY Sphinx slipped to an agonising 2-1 defeat against Coleshill Town after conceding in injury time.
Sphinx fell behind to Taylor Carter-Byrne’s early goal only for Kyle Burke to draw the home side level just past the hour mark at the Sphinx Industrial Supplies Arena.
However, an injury-time goal from Ross Evans condemned Sphinx to defeat while Patrick Zito saw red for the home side at the death.
The result means Coventry sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.
Coleshill broke the deadlock on eight minutes when Charlie Woods could only punch a corner from the right into the path of Carter-Byrne who flicked a loose ball into the top left corner.
Sphinx drew level on 63 minutes as Burke headed in Callum Woodward’s corner from the left from close range.
However, the visitors snatched the points one minute into injury time as substitute Evans curled a low free-kick around the wall from 20-yards out and into the bottom left corner.
And the game ended on a sour note for Sphinx with Zito shown a second yellow card after he appeared to follow through in a challenge on Evans.
Coventry are next in action against Rugby Town on Saturday, March 8 with kick-off at 3pm at the Sphinx Industrial Supplies Arena.
