COVENTRY Sphinx continue to slide down the table following a narrow 1-0 defeat against high-flying Belper Town.
A late goal from Curtis Burrows settled the contest with the winner coming shortly after Finlay Shorrock saw red for the visitors at the Raygar Stadium.
The result means Sphinx sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Coventry held firm for long periods against title challengers Belper only for Shorrock to receive a red card on 70 minutes with the game goalless.
And Belper made the most of the extra man nine minutes later as Burrows finished on the rebound after Charlie Woods could only parry Kevin Bastos’s initial effort.
Coventry are next in action against Mickleover on Saturday, December 20 with kick-off at 3pm at the Don Amott Arena.
