COVENTRY Sphinx suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away at high-flying Long Eaton United.
The game’s only goal came on 68 minutes as James Shaw’s strike settled the contest at Grange Park which took place in the swirling winds of Storm Darragh.
And the result means Coventry sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, five points above the relegation zone.
Shaw produced the game’s decisive moment as he cut in from the left and curled a shot into the top right corner of the net from just inside the penalty area.
Coventry are next in action against AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Tuesday, December 10 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Hayden Road.
