COVENTRY Sphinx suffered a 3-0 defeat away at Sporting Khalsa as the club slipped to a third successive defeat in the league.
Sphinx fell behind to Gurjit Singh’s early goal before James McGrady and Tesfa Robinson struck after the break to settle the game at the Guardian Warehousing Stadium.
The result means Sphinx sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, three points above the drop zone.
Khalsa broke the deadlock after just three minutes as Singh swept the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Sphinx went close later in the half as Matty Shipman fired wide from a tight angle before James Bryson volleyed another chance of the crossbar.
However, after rattling the crossbar early on in the second half, Khalsa doubled their lead on 67 minutes when McGrady finished from 12-yards out after Sphinx failed to clear their lines at a corner.
And the home side sealed the points on 88 minutes as Khalsa captain Robinson smashed the ball into the roof of the net from close range.
Coventry are next in action at home to Loughborough Dynamo on Tuesday, January 16 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Sphinx Industrial Supplies Arena.
